Data Deletion

Last updated: May 15, 2026

This page explains how to delete the personal data Rowstr holds about you, including any data collected through the Instagram / Meta Platform integration.

1. Delete from inside Rowstr

If you have an account, the fastest path is to sign in and use one of the in-app actions:

  • Disconnect an Instagram account — open the model where the Instagram account is linked and click “Disconnect Instagram”. We delete the access token immediately and remove the cached Instagram data (profile, media, messages, comments, insights, demographics) on a rolling basis within 30 days.
  • Delete your Rowstr account — go to Settings → Profile → Delete account. We delete your account and all data we control as a controller, and remove you from organizations you belong to. Customer Content owned by an organization you don't own is handled by that organization (the controller) on its own retention schedule.

2. Revoke Rowstr from Instagram or Facebook

You can revoke Rowstr's access to your Instagram account directly from Meta's settings. When you do, Meta notifies us through our deauthorisation and data deletion callbacks, and we process the deletion automatically.

  1. Open the Instagram app or website and go to Settings and privacy → Apps and websites.
  2. Find Rowstr in the list of active connections.
  3. Click “Remove” (or “Revoke”).

On Facebook, the equivalent path is Settings & privacy → Settings → Apps and websites.

3. Email request

If none of the above works for you, send an email to [email protected] from the email address associated with your account, and include:

  • The Rowstr account email (or the Instagram username if the request concerns an Instagram integration only).
  • Whether you want to delete the entire account or only the Instagram-linked data.

We respond within 7 days and complete deletion within 30 days. We may retain a minimal record (anonymous identifiers, no personal data) for fraud-prevention and legal-defence purposes for the period set out in our Privacy Policy.

4. What we delete

  • The Instagram access token and refresh token (encrypted at rest; erased on revocation).
  • Cached Instagram data: profile, media, captions, message threads, comments, account snapshots, audience demographics, insights.
  • When you delete the entire Rowstr account: profile, name, email, authentication identifiers, billing identifiers (subject to legal retention), and any Customer Content you uploaded as the controller.

5. Status of an automated request

When Meta calls our data-deletion endpoint on your behalf, we return a confirmation code and a URL pointing to /data-deletion/status. You can open that URL with the code at any time to confirm the request was received and processed. For audit purposes, retain the confirmation code Meta showed you.

6. Questions

For any question relating to your data: [email protected].
